Our Story
Founded in early 2020, Ayekooto Communications Limited operates Ayekooto 88.3 FM, a community radio station based in Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria.
The name “Ayekooto” is a Yoruba phrase meaning “the world hates truth.” This expression reflects our unwavering commitment to truthfulness in a world where honesty is often challenged. Our motto, “Truthfulness: our Shield, our Sword,” is the foundation of all our broadcasts.
Guided by a philosophy of social development over profit, Ayekooto 88.3 FM exists to serve the public good — especially the voiceless and marginalized. We believe access to accurate information is essential for grassroots progress, and we are dedicated to responsible, ethical journalism.
Our logo, the Ayekooto bird, symbolizes wisdom, protection, and a spirit of truthfulness. We promote dialogue, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and pluralism within Iwo’s diverse communities.
We are committed to impartiality, professionalism, and accountability. Our reporters are held to the highest ethical standards, guided by three questions: “Am I saying the truth?” “Is my position defensible?” and “Would I be ashamed to offer an apology?”
Vision
To be the leading community radio station in Southwest Nigeria, empowering citizens through truthful information, cultural promotion, and educational programming.
